I cannot stand the lyrics I do not know why but I cannot stand them. “American Boys”- Alright again time to be brutally honest. “You Call Me a Bitch like It’s a Bad Thing” My theme song. “We can turn you on, or we can turn on you”, see this is why I think vampires. I love the beat and the lyrics are great too. “Daughters of Darkness”- First off I think vampire amazons. It’s one of my other favorites off this album and well I know you all can see why. “Rock Show”- The first time I heard this song I commented “Whoa! This is me at a Saving Abel show!!!” Any concert junkies out there if so go listen to this song then tell me if you agree, it could be about you and any band, I’d like to know. Lzzy did another amazing job on vocals but I would love to hear this more sped up and upbeat. If this song was a bit more upbeat I think I would have liked it. I feel like I have like no patients to this song. “Break In”- Slow songs sometimes work for bands, but this one to me is too slow for Halestorm. If only this song had something more, I just cannot place what but it would make this song better and make it more Halestorm like.
Other than Lzzy’s voice I did not believe it myself. Some would not be able to believe that it Halestorm performing this song. She seems vulnerable in some these songs like this one and “Beautiful with You” and “Break in”. “In You Room”- Is another song that is sung amazingly but not my cup of tea. I do like their slower songs but this is just one of those that it should have been a B side in my opinion. Lzzy sings this amazingly, but I am used to kick Halestorm music like the first three songs on the album. “Beautiful With You”- I have to be honest- I’m not a huge fan of this song. I personally believe this is one of the best songs on this record. It is hard not to dance to this song, and I personally enjoy the fast paced beat- right now I am dancing along to the song and trying to write… talk about distraction. With having the lyrics like, “If you’re a freak like me, Get off your ass It’s our time now, To let it all hang out” it’s all about showing yourself to the world. “Freak Like Me”- Freak like me is a anthem to anyone that is a “freak”. “I miss the bad things” is the perfect line because it fits with the song so well. Ever been in a relationship that only caused you pain yet again you rather just stay in it? This is what this song is about. “I Miss The Misery”- First off my I say that the video is amazing, it was shot all in Flint Michigan, and the performance part was filmed at The Machine Shop, one of my favorite venues. One side of Lzzy is a goody two shoes then you have Mz.
The beat is hip moving and it totally makes you want to dance. Hyde, this is a song about Lzzy’s Mz.Hyde. The line “ You’ve suffered in the darkness” could be Lzzy addressing the guy about just trying to hide who he really is with the girl he is with. “Love Bites (So Do I)”- With lines like what Lzzy writes “Don’t listen what your girlfriend says she reads those magazines that say you failed the test” makes me think of a guy that is a relationship with girl that believes that magazines can talk about how they are with a certain person. They first hit the mainstream in April of 2009 with their self titled album Halestorm, and now they smack us with The Strange Case Of… on April 10, 2012. The band consists of Lzzy Hale (lead vocals, guitar, and keyboard), Arejay Hale (drums, percussion, and back vocals), Joe Hottinger (guitar, back vocals) and Josh Smith (bass guitar, back vocals). Lzzy Hale takes the coming generation of music to the next level. Halestorm is one of the newest bands with a rock hard vocalist. There are not many bands in rock that have females in their bands let alone as the front woman.
