I highly doubt that it's a firmware issue since it's either down to the software not having the most current protection coding (if that is what it's called) which would stop certain releases from running, or it could be that even though it states that it's region free the disc might contain geo locking data which restricts the disc from running but that would show a message when it is started so I'm going to put it down to the software not having the coding required to make the disc run.Īlso drivers won't affect if a disc runs or not since as I stated, it's normally down to the playback software. Why would a newer version have lower number? Or are they really different? Googling a bit, there was another 6.3.XXXX also from 2006.īut what confuses me, is when searching for SATA-drivers, is that the release date is in 2014, but version number is 4.3.XXXX. This reminds me of my friends old laptop, that presumably had a Blu-Ray drive, but he could never get it to work. "Hacksaw Ridge" and "The Nice guys" gets into the Disc-menu, but after that it jams. I now start to think that the issue is not with the region lock, but with the firmware I noticed on my copy of "Logan: The wolverine (2017)" that it is region-free (all three regions marked on the disk), but yet no software manage to open it (btw, Kodi at least looked fantastic). What software are you using for playback? Well its a last resort option, you probably should of thought about that before ordering a drive from HK
